Missouri Legislative Call for Action!
Posted over 1 year ago by Laura Kuensting
The Missouri legislative session convened on January 3, 2024 and already, APRN legislative issues are heating up!
The Board of Healing Arts (BOHA) has blatantly ignored altering their rules to reflect changes for APRNS from the 2023 legislative session. Governor Parsons wrote a scathing letter to the BOHA calling them out on their antic. Senator Schroer and Rep. Black immediately called out the BOHA on the senate and house floors. We are only two-weeks into session and things are already moving fast.
We must keep up the continued pressure and focus on BOHA's refusal to comply with the statute. We need YOUR action. If you have applied for a waiver from geographic proximity and were denied by the BOHA, we need YOU to tell your story. There will be two opportunities this week:
1) at the Senate Governmental Accountability Committee Hearing on Thursday, January 18th at 8AM, and
2) by submitting written testimony to Sen. Nick Schroer for the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules hearing that will be held at the same time.
Your stories are both compelling and necessary and we strongly encourage you to tell your side.
Please email written testimony to nick.schroer@senate.mo.gov and nursepractitioners@missourinp.org. Please see the AMNP update report in the "Advocacy" tab of our website for more information. If you can testify this week, please contact Derek Leffert (AMNP, nursepractitioners@missourinp.org) or Kyna Iman (MONA, kynaiman@earthlink.net) as soon as possible.
We appreciate anything you can do!
