Position Description
Are you an advanced nurse practitioner who seeks to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children? The Child Advocacy Center is currently seeking individuals that are personally and professionally committed to the protection of children.
Medical providers at The Child Advocacy Center perform sensitive and thorough medical examinations of children for whom there are concerns of abuse and/or neglect. This position requires not only medical expertise, but the ability to ensure children and teens feel comfortable, safe, and empowered as they begin their healing journey.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Provides comprehensive health services for children who may have been abused including history and physical, diagnostic tests, forensic photography and evidence collection, treatment of injuries or illness, and accurate and thorough documentation.
- Effectively communicates with multidisciplinary teams on medical considerations.
- Testifying in court proceedings as an expert and/or lay witness.
- Works effectively in crisis situations as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team.
- The position will require some evenings, nights, and occasional weekends on emergency call in addition to regular daytime hours.
The selected candidate will join a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to the Child Advocacy Center’s child-first, multidisciplinary, inclusive approach to investigating and preventing child abuse. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the CAC’s mission of providing a voice and nurturing hope for abused children and their supportive caregivers and recognize the role they play in helping the child begin their healing journey.
Requirements:
- Maintains professional degree, FNP certification, and licensure requirements to practice as an advanced practice nurse in Missouri in good standing.
- Pediatric experience – 2 years required, 5+ years preferred.
- Following employment, FNP will complete training provided by the CAC to meet the qualifications of SAFE-CARE provider status in Missouri.
- Must complete a comprehensive criminal background check and screenings with the Family Safe Care Registry and Missouri Automated Criminal History System.
