Important! Call to Action-HB301
CALLS ARE NEEDED TO THE FULL HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO SUPPORT HOUSE BILL 301 FOR APRN’S!
HB301, sponsored by Rep. Nick Schroer, requires advanced practice nurses (APRNs) be licensed by the Missouri Board of Nursing and sets out the requirements for that licensure. An applicant for APRN licensure must have a current registered professional nurse license, have completed an accredited APRN program, and be certified by a national certifying body. Any person who currently has a document of recognition to practice as an APRN that is current on August 28, 2019 will be deemed to be licensed as an APRN under the provisions in the bill.
· This bill DOES NOT expand Scope of Practice for APRN’s.
· This bill DOES NOT change collaborative practice agreements.
· This bill DOES NOT expand APRN prescriptive authority.
· This bill DOES provide APRN’s with a State Board of Nursing issued license instead of a document of recognition.
The physician lobbyists are fighting against passage of this legislation because they want rulemaking and licensure for APRN’s under the Board of Healing Arts. Nurses are NOT physicians and physicians should have NO oversight in their licensure and discipline requirements.
